Singer-songwriter Nana Yaw Boakye, alias MOG Music, has been admitted into the Grammy Awards’ Recording Academy 2023 class.
This makes the pastor and musician the first Gospel music artiste to join the prestigious academy.
His admission comes after the Grammy Board assessed and accepted his application.
In an official statement released, today, Tuesday, June 27, 2023, the two-time Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) male vocalist honouree commented that: “This is the pinnacle every musician wishes to get to.”
“I am glad to be putting Ghana on the map once again,” the trumpeter also noted, adding that the news is a dream come true.

On Twitter, he wrote: “Grace up, a step up. Another time and opportunity to put Africa and Ghana on the map. Thanks, @RecordingAcad. Happy to be a member of this great family.”
The Be Lifted hitmaker’s latest offering is titled Koinonia Phase II, an 8-track project featuring American Gospel star and pastor Donnie McClurkin.
The Recording Academy offers three types of membership:
- Voting Membership.
For performers, songwriters, producers, engineers, instrumentalists, and other creators currently working in the recording industry. Voting Members determine GRAMMY® winners each year.
- Professional Membership.
For music business people whose full-time, primary business activity directly supports music creators such as music executives (e.g., labels and label distributors, publishers, promoters, performing rights organizations), creator representatives (e.g., agents, managers, lawyers, publicists), industry writers (e.g., authors, journalists), and music educators (e.g., college/university educators, music/trade school educators).
- GRAMMY U.
For students currently enrolled full-time in a college, university, or trade school with a desire to work in the recording industry upon graduation.
